I've been looking for MK Hamilton bags past weeks and it was so difficult to pick a single one among all gorgeous colors they have this season. Its elegant design with chic details (and many useful pockets inside to fit all the girl has to carry with herself :) ) made me crazy about it and neutral orange goes with so many items from my closet :)

For late afternoon drink (here sun shines until 9pm) I chose pleated Chicwish dress that feels really comfortable in the warm breeze. This amazing blue color always makes me feel positive.

Kim Kardashian's Style Twist

Past weeks we could notice major twist in KK's style. New relationship and Kanye's fashion sense are bringing new Kim, fresh, elegant and classy. Minimalism is the new "it" style.

Seems that she's forgotten crazy prints and screaming colors, while entire world is going for neon she came back to basics : black, white and nude. Way to go Kim!

One of the trends Kimmy embraced is peplum clothing

And a bit of rocky-chic with leather jackets for casual daywear

Getting her style today is very easy. Keep it simple. Basic colors, textures, simple cuts and minimize the accessories. You will look classy no matter the brand you wear.

Wake up to beautiful lashes

Advertorial

Do I look weird here or what?

It is because I am missing something...

Figured it out yet? It's LASHES!

I simply cannot do without them!

There are many ways to get gorgeous, prominent lashes... Mascaras, falsies, extensions, perming, and even implants! Us girls will do just about anything to get our peepers to look brighter and bigger. ;)

So today I will be talking more about eyelash extensions!! As the older readers probably know, I am a big fan of lash extensions and I have been doing them with the same beauty salon since 2005. I'm such a loyal customer!!

This salon is Carragheen!

A little back story... Back in 2005 it was very uncommon for people to stick on falsies. If you do it people will think you are mad and have on way too much makeup. Falsies were mostly only used during photoshoots! Everyone used mascaras, but I always found mascara to be very time-consuming to put on... Not to mention the end result is highly dependent on the length and curl of your original lashes, and mine were not fantastic.

Then one day, I saw on another girl's blog that there was something called "eyelash extensions". This was the beginning of the lash extensions trend and not many people did it.

That blogger showed the before and after picture on her blog and I WAS SOLD. I cannot emphasize this enough... For someone who was constantly trying to make her lashes longer this was a freaking dream come true!!

I immediately called the number and booked an appointment with a girl called Cherlyn. Back then Cherlyn ran a one man show in Burlington Square. She did lash extensions for me, and I was so happy with the results, I went back to her for 7 years till today!

WHY LASH EXTENSIONS ARE AWESOME:

1) And this is the best reason... You wake up beautiful!! This is something that falsies and mascaras cannot beat!

Everyday you wake up and you are already half made up. You save time on your makeup routine, and on lazy days where you do not put any makeup at all you still look decent! That's why everytime I go on holiday I try to get extensions on, because during holidays you have to wake up early and you don't want to waste extra time fussing with eyelash glues etc. It's hasslefree!

2) It can look very natural, completely like REAL long lashes, or look very ultra thick and dramatic. It's all up to your perference!

3) Lash extensions usually last about 1 month to 3 months if you take good care of them.

Here are pics of me getting my lash extensions on!

Arrival at Carragheen, which is very conveniently located at 12A Liang Seah St, across Bugis Junction. I love the salon because it is so nicely decorated with an ocean/beach theme.

All the rooms come with nice, clean, comfy beds. The extensions take at least 30 mins to finish so it's great for a nap too! :D

As I've mentioned Cherlyn has been my beautician for so many years now. From a little one-man-show she ran to the 2 storey salon Carragheen is now, she has retained and gained so many customers only because she is always honing her craft and making sure her customers get the best and newest products and technology.

She has been a pioneer at lash extensions and I've seen her change so many glues and lashes until her technique has improved beyond recognition! She is a crazy perfectionist! Not to mention all her staff are personally trained by her. They are all very skilled!

When the lash extensions trend exploded in Singapore there were many... I wouldn't call them beauty salons... more like just shops set up by enterprising China ladies... claiming to do lash extensions too. Sometimes their services can go as low as $30. The prices may be cheaper but I will not advise anyone to go to these salons... Their beds (sometimes you don't even get a bed) are usually not sanitary and neither are their products. If glue isn't tested properly it can cause allergic reactions or worse! During lash removals it is also very important to be ultra gentle because rough tugging can cause your own lashes to fall off. It is better to just pay a bit more and go a trained, certified lash professional to do it for you.

Ok enough talking let's start!

First my eye makeup is removed!

A surgical tape is placed under my lashes... Don't worry it doesn't stick to your bottom lashes!!

You can pick from a selection of lashes...

The Princess Series where the lashes come in a bundle and gives a more dramatic look...

Or the Natural Series where the lashes come in singular form
and turn out super natural and soft-looking.

Cherlyn is doing the Princess Wild lash for me because... I love drama!

Stick stick stick and one eye is done!! Tadah, see the difference!? The amazing glue she uses is very lasting yet won't sting your eyes.

Both eyes done!! You may notice the lashes also look a bit brown because she chose a subtle brown lash for me. :D

The effect is very pretty!! No photoshop I swear.

You may notice that two of my bottom lashes got stuck to the top. It isn't because of the extensions, it just accidentally got caught when I blinked. Easily took them out.

Was so pleased because I usually will not step out of the house without some eyeliner but with no eye makeup at all I already look pretty! :D

The lashes sort of form an eyeliner for me, elongating my short eyes and making them all fluttery.

Of course, you can still put makeup on if you want!! I love how Carragheen has a professional makeup counter there so you can use their products to touch up your makeup. :p

With makeup, even better! Love love love it!!

Interested to give lash extensions a try? I know you guys have a lot of questions so I will try to answer them!!

1) Will lash extensions cause you to lose your own lashes?

No. If you do not tug them off yourself and go to a good Lash Professional to remove them, there is no reason why you should lose your own lashes. However, I will say it is sometimes difficult to resist pulling them off even though you know it is bad for you, like plucking dead skin off your lips.

2) What happens after a month to 3 months?

Your own lashes grow out, pushing the extensions out. Or the glue is worn out, making the extensions loose. Some may drop out, others may dangle loose. When this happens you can go for a touch up with your Lash Professional, or choose to remove the lashes completely.

3) How do I "maintain" extensions for as long as possible?

As much as possible try not to wet them. This seems crazy but it is actually easy to wash your face without wetting your extensions at all!! If you swim, wear goggles.

4) Are they uncomfortable?

They are not uncomfortable to me unless they become very loose.

5) Can people with very sparse and short lashes do extensions?

Mostly, the answer is yes, except in very severe cases. It is best to book an appointment with Carragheen and have them assess.

6) Do I still put mascara on the lashes?

No you don't.

7) Is it painful?

No pain at all.

If you are keen to give lash extensions a try, I've got good news!!

The usual price of Princess Wild Lash is $95.

BUT JUST FOR XIAXUE READERS,
it is $59 only!!

Especially only for you guys!

Sapporo and Otaru with Grand Park Hotel, Part 4

OMG I am so freaking tardy with my blog posts!!!

I edited all these pictures a while back but didn't have the time (or diligence) to blog them out until now. Anyway, if you have been reading my blog you will know that a freaking year ago a while back Park Hotel very kindly flew Cheesie and me to both Hongkong and Otaru so we can stay at Park Hotels around the world!

I already blogged 4 posts about this!!

So this is the fifth!! The 3rd day we were in Otaru Cheesie suggested we take a train to Sapporo because it is actually very close to Otaru, so off we go!

(Some photos courtesy of Cheesie)

Here's our attire of the day!!

Cheesie has gone entirely into mode fashion (it's like black and edgy) now... She isn't into pastel florally stuff anymore and I'm so super sad about it. I kept wishing she will return to the shore but I accept now that she is gone, just like my fats. Fats, I almost died editing you out of all these pictures. I do not miss you, don't come back.

 Our train tickets

Here's the famous Otaru ferris wheel accompanying us as we wait for our train. Otaru is so scenic and peaceful, I miss it a lot!

Cheesie's wearing my faithful Juicy slippers

Sign outside the Sapporo station!

Thank god Cheesie is so adapt at anything Japanese... Honestly, I am terrified of taking trains in Japan because they are so confusing + I can't speak the language + I have a phobia of being lost in a foreign country. Everytime I've been to Japan I've had people leading me everywhere!

Our first stop is to visit her host parents' house! She did a homestay with them perviously and oh my, they are SO NICE.

Here is Cheesie with her host mom, giving her presents from Malaysia. The host parents are such sweet hospitable people and they don't have any children so they organise homestays to allow foreign kids to stay at their houses...

They would have made SUCH good parents too... My heart breaks just thinking about how they would have loved to have the chance to have kids and grandkids and yet there are people out there abandoning their children or neglecting them for whatever selfish reasons.

Cheesie's host parents love cats and here's one of them rolling on the ground:

Neko, Y U SO kawaii!

We head out for lunch:

Cheesie's host dad... See his shirt haha told you they love cats

RAMEN TIME!! Cheesie's host parents treated us!

Delicious!!

Omg my hair used to be so long -_-

After this host dad drove us to the Maruyama Zoo!!

I have always enjoyed zoos but I can safely say I have never had as much fun as I had in this one!!!!

I know usually zoo blog posts are very boring with "snake sleeping" "tiger sleeping" etc captions and just boring blurry pics of animals but I swear this won't be one of those ok!!

Ok fine my first picture is of a red panda and it IS quite boring, just him standing them looking distinctly unlike how a real panda looks like.

The Maruyama zoo is pretty small unlike our Singapore zoo but it does have a good variety of animals and especially the more winter types which Mandai does not have. Also, the weather was superbly nice that day, like aircon! Loved it!

HERE IS A HIPPO'S BUTT

No seriously, look at this fucking hippo.

Is there an animal that is funnier-looking than a freaking hippo?

From their name hippopotamus to their stumpy little legs and 3 toed feet to their super fat bellies almost touching the ground to their weeny tail to their little Shrek ears and silly teeth and big mouths... and they are so rotund... I CAN'T EVEN.

The Maruyama zoo had their hippo (and he is GINORMOUS, not the pygmy sort) just walking around the enclosure and you can get pretty darn close to it.

As a city dweller (ok I doubt country dwellers see hippos all the time either) I've never seen a hippo in such close proximity or even walking around out of the water before. I was just stunned by its size and ridiculous appearance. I cannot believe it EXISTS because it so damn weird-looking!!! Can you imagine if it is common like a sparrow and it walks on our streets??

I cannot fully express this feeling of awe when I saw it... You just have to be there to see it for yourself in close proximity to experience this feeling... You always see hippos in graphics or books but to witness it in real life is just stunning.

Just as I was marvelling at the hippo and wondering what sort of God has such a great sense of humour to create a creature like that, the hippo fart, shat and peed at the same time.

HAHHAHAHAHA!!

It farted and had explosive watery diarrhoea come out of its ass and then before the shit finished spraying out it also peed. The trajectory was AMAZING.

It is super MAJOR disgusting and it kept flicking its tail side to side to make sure the shit got sprayed to as wide a range as possible. The entire ground and wall was covered in brown goo. I think it is trying to torture the zookeepers!!

Then it lumbered off to another part of the enclosure like nothing happened.

ARE YOU EVEN SERIOUS?? You already look so damn hilarious and you just had to have SUCH A DRAMATIC SHIT.

Cheesie already moved on to see the next animal so if I didn't remember wrongly she didn't witness the poop. I just stood there laughing non-stop, until the next animal awed me again:

Before I could get over the hippo I see this majestic creature just staring at the hippo from his enclosure. Perhaps it also found the hippo very funny.

I've seen many giraffes before in zoos but never in such proximity so I just never realised how HUGE they are. Such a ridiculous neck... They must have all sorts of neck and back problems with old age.

Pony with a shorter face than Sun Ho. CHINA WINE! CHINA WINE!!

Let me ask you a question...

People always ask... Is a zebra black with white stripes or white with black stripes?

(The correct answer is black with white stripes)

But the question you really want to know is...

IS A ZEBRA'S PENIS WHITE OR BLACK?

(or stripey?)

Place your bets boys and girls, for I have your answer...

IT IS BLACK!!!

This zebra really fascinated Cheesie and me because it is completely stationary just standing there by itself.

That's all fine but it kept having an erection and shrinking it again and getting erected again and shrinking again... You get the drift.

Like for 5 mins we just stood there watching him alternate his arousal every 5 seconds. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HIS MIND?!

Maybe this:

"OMG my sister looks so gorgeous I really wanna get it on with her. NO! BAD ZEBRA WHAT ARE YOU THINKING SHE IS YOUR SISTER OMG I NEED TO CLEANSE MY DIRTY MIND THINK OF GRANDMA OR THE HIPPO NEXT DOOR. But... but... my sister is so sexy her stripes are so distinct... OMG NO NO NO HIPPO HIPPO HIPPO HIPPO WITH DIARRHOEA."

Next we go to the brown bear enclosure:

The Japanese are ingenious!!

When we arrived at the enclosure we wondered why so many people were crowding before the glass with their phones and cameras whipped out... It turns out the Hokkaido brown bear was having lunch!!

AND WE ALL HAD SUCH A CLEAR VIEW OF IT!!!

The Japanese placed a pond right next to the glass and in the pond are live fishes! The bear is not fed so in order to get food he has to catch the fish, and we get to see all the action!!

It was so amazing to witness!! Admittedly it is a very small pond but the bear was very quick, diving into the pond and emerging with fish in its teeth.

My whole experience was made even more fun by the enthusiastic Japanese who kept on cheering the bear loudly or going "Ohhhh..." super dramatically when his fishes escape.

Whenever the bear successfully catches a fish and is biting its head off, the Japanese all go "OISHI OISHI!!" in unison! I suppose they understand the bear's love for raw fish. :D

Cheesie took a video!

Next we go to the Polar Bear Enclosure, where we witness something amazing...

Mama polar bear just gave birth and we all saw in clear view her interacting with her baby!!!

I was too busy staring at the too-cute-for-words scene but Cheesie in her enterprising blogging spirit snapped some National Geographic worthy shots:

OMG THOSE PAWS. I also wanna nuzzle baby bear in the belly!!

"Wake up lazy baby!"

"But mama I wanna sleep in!"

The paw pads... I cannot maintain!!!!!!!

Ok end of this entry! I try to blog part 5 asap! :D
